The Philadelphia 76ers recently faced the New York Knicks in a series that did not go in their favor. Despite the loss, they found themselves in good company on Sunday. Dawn Staley, a North Philly native and former Temple University women’s basketball coach, stepped into the spotlight in South Philly. She began the Sixers game by ringing the bell and proudly wearing an Allen Iverson t-shirt.
Before heading to the game, Staley made sure to stop by Mitchell & Ness to pick out the perfect outfit for her courtside appearance. After revving up the fans, Staley connected with Sixers legends Allen Iverson and Julius Erving, known as Dr. J. During the game, the Sixers mic’d up Staley, capturing her reactions and enthusiasm during the crucial moments, just like any fan watching from home.
Coming off her third NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship win with the South Carolina Gamecocks, Staley has been basking in her recent victory. She discussed her latest win and shared insights on the current state of women’s basketball in a conversation with Ukee Washington, Jessica Kartalija, and Sports Director Don Bell.
