The Dallas Cowboys have decided to part ways with receiver Martavis Bryant, putting an end to his latest attempt at a comeback in the NFL. Originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft, Bryant showed promise early on by catching eight touchdowns in 10 games during his rookie year. However, his career has been marred by suspensions due to substance-abuse violations. Despite this, he was kept on a futures contract once the season concluded.
Bryant bounced back in 2015 with a career-high 765 receiving yards after his first suspension, but he was then banned for the entire 2016 season. He played one more season with the Steelers before being traded to the Oakland Raiders in 2018. Another suspension followed late in the 2018 season.
The Cowboys took a chance on Bryant almost five years after his last suspension, but despite being unable to secure a spot on the active roster last season and facing multiple suspensions throughout his career, it seems that time has come for him to move on from football.
