On July 4, 2021, The Canyon Club microbrewery restaurant in Moraga, California was buzzing with excitement as patrons savored a close-up glass of Beta Tested Pilsner. Meanwhile, in Minnesota, several breweries were celebrating their victories at the World Beer Cup Awards held in Las Vegas. The event saw breweries compete for gold, silver or bronze medals in 110 categories and six Minnesota craft breweries emerged triumphant.
Jess Talley, the executive director of the Minnesota Craft Brewers Guild, praised the local breweries for their passion, talent and hard work that led to their success at the prestigious competition. She highlighted how these awards prove that some of the best beer in the world is crafted by Minnesota’s very own breweries and brewpubs.
Bent Paddle Brewing Co., located in Duluth took home a gold medal while Northbound Smokehouse and Brewpub in Minneapolis received a silver medal. Excelsior Brewing Co. won a bronze medal for its exceptional creations just like Lupulin Brewing in Big Lake and BeerClub Brewing in Mora also got awarded with bronze medals. Lastly Pryes Brewing Co., another successful brewery from Minnesota won a gold medal for its innovative beers.
Each of these six breweries showcased the diverse and innovative craft beer scene that thrives in Minnesota and proved that they are truly deserving of recognition for their exceptional creations.
