In a New York courtroom on Tuesday, Stephanie Clifford testified as a witness in a criminal trial involving Donald Trump. Clifford, who has alleged that she had sex with Trump in 2006, provided detailed testimony about how she ended up in the hotel room with him.
According to Clifford, she initially declined an invitation from Trump’s security guard to meet with him for dinner. However, after being persuaded by a colleague, she eventually agreed to go to his hotel suite. During their encounter, Clifford described Trump’s attire and conduct, including discussions about her work in adult entertainment and STD tests.
Clifford stated that she did not expect to have sex with Trump and felt nervous and ashamed afterwards. Despite attempts by Trump’s lawyers to block many of the prosecutors’ questions during the trial, Judge Barbara Jones frequently intervened to keep the proceedings focused.
Trump denied any wrongdoing and dismissed the trial as a politically motivated attack against him. Prosecutor Susan Hoffinger argued that Clifford’s testimony was crucial in establishing the sequence of events and bolstering her credibility.
Despite pushback from Trump’s legal team, Clifford’s detailed testimony was seen as essential in providing the court with a complete picture of the alleged events. The trial is ongoing with no clear end in sight yet.
