Rain leaves 173 Ukrainian villages without power, 20 killed in Indonesia

In Russia, emergency evacuations were called in areas affected by dangerous floods near the Kazakhstan border. The floods were caused by strong winds, heavy rains, and a dam that overflowed. Meanwhile, in central Indonesia, 20 people lost their lives due to heavy rains. The rains triggered landslides that led to casualties in the villages of Tana Turayavi and Sulawesi Province. The final death toll reached 20, with search operations uncovering a mother and her son among the victims.

In Ukraine, thousands of people in 173 villages experienced electricity cuts due to strong winds, heavy rains, and floods damaging the electrical infrastructure. Energy company Detec worked tirelessly to restore power to the affected areas. In Russia’s Tyumen region, the governor ordered evacuations in flood-prone areas, setting up temporary shelters for displaced residents.

Heavy rains eroded the soil of residential areas on mountain slopes in Indonesia, causing destructive landslides. The country’s susceptibility to landslides during the rainy season poses a significant risk to residents, exacerbated by deforestation and prolonged heavy rains.
