The Troy Pike Center for Technology recently hosted a Careers Are Fun Day for high school students from Charles Henderson High School, Goshen High School, and Pike County High School. The event, which was held in two sessions, each tailored to students in grades 10-12, aimed to introduce students to a variety of career options and provide them with the opportunity to bond with students from other high schools.
Jamie Rich, assistant principal at the technology center, explained that the goal of Careers Are Fun Day was to broaden students’ horizons and help them explore different career paths. “We want to give these students a chance to see what’s out there and find something that they’re passionate about,” she said. “By providing them with a variety of options, we hope to inspire them to pursue careers that they truly love.”
In addition to Careers Are Fun Day, the TPCT also held a Senior Career Signing Day for students who will be entering the military or starting employment or an apprenticeship at local businesses and industries. This event allowed students to celebrate their future endeavors and mark the next step in their career journeys. It was a day of excitement, pride, and camaraderie as students from different schools came together to support their peers in their chosen paths.
Overall, both events were designed to support the professional growth of high school students and help them make informed decisions about their futures. Through these events, the TPCT provided valuable resources and guidance that will undoubtedly benefit these young people in years to come.
