Sport Media Students Begin an Olympic Adventure: A Study Abroad Program in Paris

Cal State Fullerton is making strides in sports media education with the launch of the Sports Media Certificate Program within the Department of Communications. This program offers students hands-on experiences, including reporting live from the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

Gayle Jansen Brisbane, an assistant professor of communications at CSUF, and Bob Young from Arizona State University will lead students on a journey abroad to gain exposure to different cultures and a deeper understanding of global sports. The dual focus on sports journalism and writing will provide participants with a well-rounded skill set that will distinguish them in the competitive sports media field.

The program seeks to broaden perspectives and refine abilities for students in sports media education, setting the stage for them to excel in their careers. To make this opportunity accessible to all students, donations are being sought to support underrepresented students. For more information or to contribute, please reach out to Courtney Lutkus at clutkus@fullerton.edu. Overall, the Sports Media Certificate Program at Cal State Fullerton is paving the way for students’ success in the evolving world of sports media.
