On Monday, Israeli forces carried out a surprise raid to the east of Khan Yunis, forcing residents to flee once again as over 200 bodies were recovered from mass graves in the courtyard of the Nasser Medical Complex. In Rafah, Israel launched new air strikes, targeting the last refuge for many of the Strip’s residents who had sought shelter there.
Ahmed Rizq, who took refuge in a school in western Khan Yunis, reported that families who had returned to the Abasan area were forced to flee again as tanks entered the area under heavy gunfire. The death toll in the war between Israel and Gaza has now exceeded 34,000 Palestinians with thousands still missing. Rescue workers at the Nasser Hospital site have been recovering bodies from the rubble, with more than 200 bodies found so far.
Israeli forces claim Hamas fighters were operating from hospitals, leading to the fighting in these facilities. Gaza officials accuse Israel of carrying out executions at the hospital and attempting to cover up the crimes by burying bodies with bulldozers. Relatives are coming to claim the bodies of their loved ones for reburial, finding solace in laying them to rest.
The violence and destruction in Gaza have left families devastated and seeking closure for their lost loved ones. The continued airstrikes in Gaza targeted other areas, including Rafah where a newborn was delivered via caesarean section after the mother was killed in an airstrike. The ongoing conflict between Israel and Gaza has resulted in immense suffering for both sides and continues to be a pressing issue that needs immediate attention and resolution.
