It appears that another star player for the Cincinnati Bengals is considering a trade. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, three-time Pro Bowl defensive end Trey Hendrickson has requested to be traded. Despite being under contract for two more years with substantial salaries, Hendrickson is seeking more long-term security, which the Bengals have not been willing to offer.
Despite Hendrickson’s trade request, the Bengals have reportedly told him they will not move him, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. This news comes after star wide receiver Tee Higgins also reportedly asked for a trade as he looks for a long-term deal. There have been no contract talks between Higgins and the Bengals in over a year, according to Schefter’s report.
Hendrickson had an impressive season in 2020, leading the NFL in sacks with 17.5 and also accumulating 16 tackles for loss and 25 quarterback hits. In his three seasons with the Bengals, he has amassed 39.5 sacks, 34 tackles for loss, and 76 quarterback hits in 48 games. Hendrickson has also been selected to the Pro Bowl three times during his time with the team.
