In April 2024, the Better Barrel Races Association held their annual World Finals at the Oklahoma City facility, crowning champions in various divisions including futurity, derby, youth and more. The event was highly anticipated by members of the association and did not disappoint.
Veteran talent Marne Loosenort from Hazel, Ky., emerged as the winner in the Classic Equine Finals, with a time of 15.190 seconds aboard PT Love Tabea Blazin. McKinlee Paschal from Nome, Texas, came in second with a time of 15.193 seconds, winning $5,966. Other division winners included Laina Alley, Amanda Averett, Astrid LaRocque and Rebecca Stobaugh.
In the futurity division, World Champion Sherry Cervi clinched the title riding her 2019 AQHA mare MP Meter My Fame. This legendary barrel racer piloted the mare to victory with a time of 32.070 seconds and earned $4,541 for her achievement. Riley Youngman and Foolish Eddie came in second with a combined time of 32.092 seconds and won $3,653 for their efforts.
The BBR World Finals are a highly anticipated event every year for members of the association and this year’s event was no exception. It provided memorable experiences and fulfilled dreams for all barrel racers in attendance who were grateful for this opportunity to showcase their skills on such a grand stage.
