Top Athletes in Somerset County for Spring Sports May 6-11

In Monday’s baseball action, Somerset and Richland faced off in a match that saw Somerset come out on top with a score of 18-5. The game was marked by strong performances from several players, including Callen Miller who recorded five hits, including a home run and five RBIs. Lane Lambert also had a standout game with two hits, including a home run and five RBIs. Carter Dunmyer added three hits to the mix, while Braeden Flower struck out 10 over six innings.

In another baseball game, Conemaugh Township secured a 7-5 victory over Cambria Heights thanks to Larry Weaver’s two hits, including a home run and two RBIs. D.J. Bambino drove in two runs, while Luke Weber and Brennan Lohr each contributed two hits for Conemaugh Township. Windber defeated Ferndale 12-2 in six innings, with Lucas Oleksa hitting a 3-run home run and tallying four RBIs. Lucas Rummel and Nathan Betcher also had strong performances for Windber.

In tennis news, Somerset’s Cornelius Grau and Josiah Antram won the District 5-2A doubles championship by defeating Tussey Mountain’s Luke Barnett and Nolan May 6-1, 6-2.
