In recent news, Alabama has signed standout big man Clifford Omoruyi from Rutgers through the transfer portal, further strengthening their roster for the 2024-25 season. Ranked as the No. 13 player in CBS Sports’ Transfer Rankings, Omoruyi is highly regarded for his shot-blocking abilities, having recorded an impressive 93 blocks before the NCAA Tournament during his four seasons at Rutgers. Throughout his collegiate career, he started in 104 games and averaged 10.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks in 26 minutes per game.
This marks the fourth transfer that Alabama’s head coach Nate Oats and his staff have added this offseason. Along with Omoruyi, they have also welcomed Aden Holloway from Auburn, Chris Youngblood from USF, and Houston Mallette from Pepperdine to their roster. However, the Crimson Tide will need to adjust to the departure of six players from their Final Four roster from the previous season, including Mohamed Wague, Nick Pringle, and Sam Walters.
In addition to these transfers, Alabama also boasts a highly recruited class for the upcoming season with top talents such as five-star center Derrion Reid and four-star forward Aiden Sherrell joining their ranks. These new additions set up Alabama for a strong campaign as they aim to build on their recent success and compete for another championship in the SEC.
