The Arena Football League (AFL) is facing potential challenges following the decision of the Iowa Rampage to discontinue operations. The team, owned by Trevor Burdett and Mike Taliaferro, cited issues such as delayed delivery of football equipment, jerseys, and camp gear as well as the NFL Network backing out of televising games as reasons for their decision.
In a press release on Thursday, the owners expressed disappointment in the failure of the league to support the revival of the AFL and its impact on players across the United States. They stated that they did not take the decision lightly but felt they had no other choice but to discontinue operations immediately due to lack of promised support from the league.
The Rampage’s departure from the league leaves it with 15 franchises. The future of the AFL remains uncertain as these challenges highlight potential obstacles in its revival efforts.
