The Momentous Institute is hosting a free event on the root causes of the mental health crisis at Collin College Frisco Campus on April 30th at 5:30 pm. Dr. Jessica Gomez, Executive Director of the institute, emphasizes the importance of addressing mental health issues and reducing the stigma associated with it. Despite increasing attention on mental health, access to services and educational opportunities still needs improvement.
Dr. Gomez highlighted the prevalence rates of mental illness in the state and the lack of access to care, ranking last among all states. She stressed the importance of promoting strategies to cultivate mental wellness and elevating the conversation around mental health.
In addition to the event, the institute will also launch a toolkit to assist families in navigating the mental health crisis. Attendees will have a chance to win tickets to the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, where players will be showing their support for mental health awareness by wearing green ribbons. In place of their names, players and caddies will have ways they maintain their mental health displayed on their bibs.
The Momentous Institute is committed to providing resources and support for those struggling with mental illnesses and promoting a culture that prioritizes mental wellness.
