Todd Stottlemyer, CEO of Acentra Health, commended Verlon Johnson on her appointment as chair of the Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program Payment and Access Commission (MACPAC) by the Government Accountability Office. Johnson had previously been reappointed for a second consecutive 3-year term as a MACPAC commissioner.
Johnson expressed deep humility and honor at being recognized alongside such an exceptional team of commissioners and staff. She emphasized the importance of collaborating with the group to enhance Medicaid and CHIP, programs that are vital for millions of people. Established in 2009, MACPAC is a non-partisan advisory committee that provides guidance to Congress, the Health and Human Services Department Secretary, and states on policy and access issues related to Medicaid and CHIP.
As the Chief Strategy Officer of Acentra Health, Johnson is responsible for overseeing the company’s growth strategy, including organic growth and acquisitions. Prior to her role at Acentra Health, she served as the vice president of healthcare policy and management at IBM Watson Health’s government health and human services business group. Senator Mark Warner (D-Va.) praised Johnson’s appointment, noting that her contributions as a MACPAC Commissioner have been valuable to Congress in addressing issues related to Medicaid and CHIP.
