Zymear Smith, a four-star athlete from North Caroline High School in Ridgely, Maryland, has decommitted from the University of Alabama. Smith expressed gratitude towards the Alabama football staff for their support throughout the recruiting process. After discussion with his family and mentors, Smith made the decision to part ways with the Crimson Tide.
Smith received an offer from Alabama in February and committed to the program in March. He recently visited the campus during the weekend of May 31 through June 2. Penn State was initially seen as a top contender in Smith’s recruitment, with Maryland, Pittsburgh, and other schools also showing interest. Smith visited Maryland during the weekend of June 21 through June 23.
Hailing from North Caroline High School in Ridgely, Maryland, Smith is ranked as the No. 7 prospect in the state and the No. 10 athlete in the 2025 class. With Smith’s decommitment, Alabama’s recruiting class for 2025 now stands at 21 pledges, placing them second in the national recruiting team rankings.
