Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone giant, is expanding its product line with a new series of headphones called Xiaomi OpenWear Stereo. These ear conduction headphones are designed to compete with Huawei FreeClip and feature a unique design that sets them apart from other open-ear products.

The OpenWear Stereo headphones have a rounded hook that is placed on the outer part of the ears, without entering the ear canal. This design ensures a comfortable and secure fit while allowing users to hear their surroundings and avoid any potential safety risks.

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun announced the new product in a blog post, but the release date has not been confirmed yet. Reports suggest that the OpenWear Stereo headphones may cost between 80 and 100 euros or around 400 soles. The key challenge of open-ear products is sound leakage, but Xiaomi claims to have solved this issue with 10mm sound reduction technology to ensure private listening experiences.

The headphones are equipped with custom 17 x 12 millimeter drivers and DLC diaphragms. They support the LHDC codec and high-resolution audio, with 10-millimeter sound reduction to prevent sound leakage. Additionally, the OpenWear Stereo headphones have IP54 water resistance and two microphones to reduce external noise during calls. The battery life is estimated to last 7.5 hours on a single charge.
