Wrexham’s star player, Paul Mullin, will be sitting out the club’s summer tour to North America as he recovers from minor spinal surgery. The 29-year-old underwent the procedure last month in an effort to address a long-term lower-back/hamstring issue that has plagued him for years.
Despite not being able to participate in the tour, the club remains optimistic that Mullin will be fully fit for the upcoming season in League One. The tour kicks off in Santa Barbara where Wrexham will face off against Bournemouth on July 20th. Four days later, the team will stay in California to play against Chelsea in Santa Clara.
After their matches in California, Wrexham will head north to Vancouver, where owner Ryan Reynolds hails from. There, they will take on the Major League Soccer (MLS) side Whitecaps. The decision for Mullin to undergo surgery was made after three years of managing the injury and during off-season training it became clear that it was time for a change of approach and surgery was deemed necessary moving forward for Mullin to fully heal and return to form.
