The WPIAL offices are gearing up for a busy week with spring bracketology for softball, boys and girls lacrosse playoffs. On Thursday, steering committees will come together to create the district playoff brackets for softball and lacrosse tournaments. The WPIAL Playoff Pairings Show will air at 2 p.m. on Trib HSSN, giving viewers a breakdown of the softball playoff brackets.
On Friday, the baseball and boys volleyball playoffs will be in full swing, with the Baseball Playoff Pairing Show airing at noon on Trib HSSN. With just one night left in the regular season, several teams are still vying for a spot in the Class 3A playoffs. In Section 1-3A, Upper St. Clair has secured a berth but could face competition from Bethel Park if Canon-McMillan is upset by Bethel Park. In Section 2-2A, Derry has an opportunity to tie for second place and secure a postseason spot with a win on Thursday.
Meanwhile, in boys volleyball, North Allegheny and Shaler are tied for first place in Section 2-3A and could secure an outright section win with a victory on Thursday. Penn-Trafford also has an opportunity to claim an outright section title with a win in Section 3-3A. North Catholic and South Fayette are also contenders for section titles with wins on Thursday.
With so much excitement building around spring bracketology, it’s clear that this week is going to be one to remember for WPIAL sports fans!
