West Branch’s Beau Alazaus Drives in Four Runs in EBC Victory over Minerva

West Branch third baseman Beau Alazaus led his team to a 10-0 victory over Minerva on Wednesday at Carl Michael Field with a dominating performance. Alazaus had two hits, including a two-run single in the fourth inning and a two-run double in the sixth, driving in four runs. Hunter Shields also contributed with two hits and three runs scored, while senior Jaxon Robb, playing his first game since freshman year, went 2-for-2 with two runs after receiving medical clearance earlier in the day.

Anthony Perry earned the win on the mound for West Branch, pitching a three-hitter with eight strikeouts and no walks. Perry also helped his cause with a two-run single in the sixth inning. The Warriors are now 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the Eastern Buckeye Conference, while Minerva falls to 0-4 and 0-2 in the EBC.

West Branch scored single runs in the first three innings, with Shields scoring on a wild pitch in the first and Charlie Biskup walking and eventually scoring on a fielder’s choice in the second. Biskup and Boston Mulinix both had two stolen bases in the game. Minerva’s Brayden Wood went 2-for-3 at the plate but took the loss on the mound, giving up five runs (three earned) on four hits in three-plus innings.

The final score of the game was Minerva 0, West Branch 10. Coming off a 5-0 win over Minerva on Monday, West Branch will face Marlington next Tuesday.
