In the 2023 election, Weld County implemented an innovative security measure for the first time. The county served as a pilot program for a unique feature that ensured the integrity and security of the election process. Ballots were printed on paper stock with high resolution images that could only be seen with special equipment, adding an extra layer of security to the election. This technology, known as GHOSTmark, marked the first time such a security measure was put in place in Weld County. The initiative was aimed at testing its effectiveness and potential for future use. With over 222,064 active registered voters, Weld County played a crucial role in ensuring that the election was fair and secure.
