Vice President Kamala Harris recently hosted a gathering of influential women in the sports industry at her residence. The event, held in collaboration with the Women’s Sports Foundation, featured a variety of powerful figures such as league commissioners, team owners, athletic directors, and athletes. Among the distinguished guests were Scout Bassett, a Paralympian and President of the Women’s Sports Foundation, Jessica Berman, the commissioner of the National Women’s Soccer League, Nikki Fargas, president of the Las Vegas Aces, Darcie Kassewitz, owner of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Francie Gottsegen, president of the North Carolina Courage and Renee Montgomery, owner of the Atlanta Dream.
During the celebration, Harris emphasized the importance of providing equitable opportunities for women in sports in order to empower them and develop strong young women. She shared some wise words that her mother used to tell her and encouraged attendees to be trailblazers and pave the way for future generations. Harris highlighted the impact of their work and emphasized that representation is crucial in breaking barriers.
