University of Virginia President Jim Ryan has recently completed his 13th run in the Boston Marathon, raising over $52,000 for UVA Health Children’s. This marked his most successful fundraising effort to date, with the total amount raised now exceeding $100,000. Today, Ryan will present the funds to UVA Health leaders.

The hospital offers nine specialties that are nationally ranked among the top 50 and has been ranked as the No. 1 children’s hospital in Virginia for three consecutive years by U.S. News & World Report. It provides primary and specialty care in over 30 different areas within Virginia and beyond, including a pediatric emergency department and a Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The Battle Building houses the UVA Health Children’s Ambulatory Clinics, offering integrated outpatient care to families in the region since 2014.

Over 1,000 individuals contributed to the fundraising effort, supporting UVA Health Children’s which is known for its exceptional care for children and families. The hospital also partners with Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital to establish the UVA Health Children’s Neurodevelopmental and Behavioral Care clinic in Albemarle County later this year which will continue to expand services for children and families in need of specialized care.
