USC football faces de-commitment crisis, losing key recruits in just 9 days

The recent trend of de-commits at USC football is certainly a cause for concern. In just nine days, the program has lost three highly ranked recruits, including four-star safety Hylton Stubbs, who was the No. 17 safety prospect in the nation.

While de-commitments are not entirely unexpected for a program like USC, with their high level of recruiting, it is natural for players with strong offer lists to be in demand. However, losing some players is inevitable and USC under head coach Lincoln Riley is expected to win many of these battles in the future.

In the past month, USC has seen three key de-commits: Isaiah Gibson, a five-star defensive lineman from Georgia, Justus Terry, another five-star defensive lineman from Georgia and Stubbs. All three players were in the top 100 recruits in the nation according to 247Sports rankings (Gibson at No. 12, Terry at No. 17 and Stubbs at No. 99).

Despite these setbacks, USC currently has the No. 31 recruiting class in the nation. Their top commit, Julian Lewis, a five-star recruit and the No. 16 player in the nation has generated interest from other top programs but recruiting analyst Steve Wiltfong believes Lewis is likely to stick with his commitment to USC.
