UNESCO Designation of Inform es-Sultan as World Heritage Website Ignites Israeli Outrage

The United Nations World Heritage Committee has declared the Inform es-Sultan archaeological web site in Jericho a “World Heritage Website in Palestine.” This resolution was made at a convention in Riyadh, in keeping with UNESCO. The announcement was met with approval from the Palestinian Authority, whereas Israel expressed anger over the choice.

The newly designated web site, located in Jericho within the Israeli-occupied West Financial institution, comprises historic ruins relationship again to the ninth millennium BCE. Jericho itself is taken into account one of many oldest repeatedly inhabited cities on the earth.

In response to the choice, the Palestinian Authority Overseas Affairs Ministry launched a press release on Sunday praising the popularity of Jericho’s cultural, financial, and political significance. Additionally they highlighted the location’s 10,000 years of human improvement.
