In December 2021, federal agents seized more than 10,000 rounds of ammunition and several firearms from Cory Cumings’ home and business, Mitchell Roofing and Siding. The items confiscated by the ATF included rifles, shotguns, pistols, and a machine gun.
Cumings was initially arrested in Aurora County for drug and stalking charges. During the raid on his home, authorities discovered evidence that he had been using drugs illegally. In addition to the THC wax found in his bedroom, there was also a safe accessible only to Cumings with residue of methamphetamine inside. It was reported that Cumings had made threatening remarks about hiring a hitman to kill a woman prior to the raid.
Under federal law, firearms or ammunition can be seized from individuals who illegally use drugs. Cumings was arrested earlier this year for driving under the influence of drugs while already out on bond for three more DUI charges. He has a court hearing scheduled on July 11 for his cases in Aurora and Davison Counties.
