The Power of Industry (TVO) has announced that the Olkiluoto triple reactor will resume full production on Wednesday, November 22 at one o’clock in the morning. Previously, electricity production was halted on Sunday evening.
According to TVO’s announcement, the power plant will begin producing electricity at 1285 megawatts starting on Tuesday at 12 o’clock. This will have a direct impact on the price of electricity sold in Nordpool by 2 p.m. today.
Teollisuuden Voima (TVO)’s communications manager, Johanna, says that the company will provide an update as soon as more details about the fault with the turbine plant are known. However, she emphasizes that it is not a similar issue to last spring’s trial run but rather a specific failure that occurred during operation.
After years of problems and delays, the plant started producing regular electricity in the spring of this year with a power output of around 1540-1560 megawatts due to restrictions set by Fingrid. However, the second reactor stopped for weeks in August due to a fault in its generator’s cooling system. This incident was one of several factors that limited electricity production and transmission capacity, which caused fluctuations in the price of electricity on the stock market at that time.
