Harken narrowly clinches victory in Mountain Top Futurity

On Sunday, June 16, two-year-old New Mexico-bred gelding Harken emerged victorious in the $351,484 Mountain Top Futurity at Ruidoso Downs Race Track by a nose. Jockey Sergio Becerra Jr. expressed his confidence in the horse’s abilities and knew that Harken was capable of the win. The gelding held off Eye I’m Flashin and jockey Jacob Enriquez at the wire, paying $16.80, $11.40, and $6.80 for a time of 17.765 seconds for 350 yards.

On Saturday, June 15, three-year-old New Mexico-bred quarter horse Miss Hi Tide overcame a rough start to secure the $175,258 Mountain Top Derby victory with a time of 17.979 seconds for 350 yards. Paired with jockey Adrian Ramos, Miss Hi Tide beat Wood Be Bad and jockey James Flores by one length, paying $21.80, $8.20, and $6.00 for her owner Ezra Lee and trainer Wes Giles.
