LaDonna Lynn Phelps, a beloved nurse who worked for over 30 years and cherished her family, passed away on November 16th, 2023. She was 64 years old and resided in Newton Falls at the time of her passing.

Born to Leon and Lillian Reynolds Garrett on January 16th, 1959, in Elberton, Georgia, LaDonna was raised with love and care from her parents. Her passion for helping others led her to pursue a career in nursing at Athens Technical School, where she received her degree after graduating.

Throughout her life, LaDonna dedicated herself to caring for others as a nurse. She retired from Victoria House in 2021 after more than three decades of service. Despite her busy work schedule, she always found time for her hobbies that brought her joy and relaxation – crocheting, sewing, baking, playing the piano, and painting pictures.

LaDonna was a devoted Christian who worshipped at Elberton Church of God. Her faith played an integral part in guiding her through life’s challenges and joys alike. On April 25th, 1995, she exchanged vows with Walter Phelps during their beautiful wedding ceremony. Together they built a loving home filled with laughter and memories that will last a lifetime.

LaDonna is survived by many loved ones including her mother Lillian; husband Walter; sons Wesley Davis and Tyler Phelps; daughter Julie Davis; brother Keith; sisters Saronda Sherry Tammie; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Her father Leon passed away before she did but his legacy lives on through his daughter’s unwavering commitment to serving others selflessly throughout her career as a nurse until retirement from Victoria House in Newton Falls
