TikTok has recently been added to the Priority Channel of the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD), a tool that enables fast and free requests for content removal that endangers the rights and freedoms, as well as the physical or mental health, of those affected. This year, the AEPD has ordered more than thirty removals through this channel, increasing the 51 emergency interventions carried out in 2022.
As a committed member of the Priority Channel, TikTok has established a communication channel to promptly respond to any requirements from the AEPD in cases where potentially harmful content is found. The platform joins other companies such as Google, Meta, and Microsoft in this initiative.
The AEPD’s Priority Channel has been successful in removing harmful content and preventing violations of rights and freedoms. With this system, swift removal requests can be made for published content that places individuals’ rights and freedoms or physical and mental welfare at risk.
