The New York Giants focused on reshaping their roster this offseason, making moves to address needs on the offensive line, linebacker, and wide receiver fronts. However, they allowed veteran cornerback Adoree’ Jackson to leave without adequately replacing him. While they drafted Andru Phillips in the third round of the 2024 NFL draft, this move doesn’t fully solve their cornerback issues. As training camp approaches, the Giants are set to field Deonte Banks at CB1 and Cor’Dale Flott at CB2, a decision that doesn’t inspire much confidence across the league.
Given the Giants’ weakest area is the secondary, particularly at cornerback, Pro Football Network’s Lorenzo Reyna suggests they sign eight-time Pro Bowl cornerback Patrick Peterson. Peterson, at 33 years old, is a free agent who could provide veteran help at either cornerback or possibly safety if he were to join the team. Despite coming off a subpar season with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2023, Peterson has shown in the past that he can perform at a high level.
Peterson has an impressive resume, with 652 tackles, 4 QB hits, 4.0 sacks, 122 passes defensed
