Bob’s Stores, a discount retailer that started in Connecticut and expanded throughout the Northeast, is set to close all its locations and liquidate all inventory. The closure is part of the company’s Chapter 11 restructuring petition filed on June 18 by its owner, GoDigital Media Group.
Dave Barton, the president of Bob’s Stores, expressed regret over the financial position that led to the liquidation. He thanked vendors, suppliers, customers, and employees for their support over the years. Despite not having locations on Staten Island, there are two stores on Long Island. It is important to note that the Bob’s Discount Furniture and Mattress Store chain is owned by a different company.
Bob’s Stores is currently offering discounts of 30% to 70% off, and gift cards and merchandise credits will be honored until the final day. All sales are final, and no returns will be accepted. The list of closing locations includes stores in New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island. Customers are encouraged to take advantage of the discounts and promotions before the final day of business on July 14.
Bob’s Stores has been operating for nearly 70 years in local communities across the Northeast. While it may be sad to see this beloved retailer close down its operations in these areas, it is important to remember that it was a business decision made by management under difficult circumstances.
