Texas A&M rallies to stay away from sweep by LSU – Crescent City Sports

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – No. 11 Texas A&ampM struck for 4 runs in the bottom of the eighth inning Sunday to erase a six-four deficit, and the Aggies defeated major-ranked LSU, eight-six, in Blue Bell Park.

The loss ended LSU’s 13-game win streak, as the Tigers are 18-two all round and two-1 in the SEC. Texas A&ampM enhanced to 14-six all round and 1-two in conference play.

LSU returns to action at six:30 p.m. CT Tuesday when the Tigers play host to Central Arkansas in Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field. The game will be broadcast on affiliates of the LSU Sports Radio Network, and it will be streamed on SEC Network +.

Run-scoring singles by centerfielder Stanley Tucker and shortstop Hunter Haas highlighted the Aggies’ eighth-inning rally, as Texas A&ampM salvaged Game three of the teams’ opening SEC series.

Texas A&ampM reliever Will Johnston (two-) earned the win, as he fired 3 scoreless innings, enabling just 1 hit with no walks and 3 strikeouts.

LSU reliever Christian Small (two-1) was charged with the loss, enabling two runs on two hits in 1. inning with two walks and 3 strikeouts.

“I’m proud of the way our guys ready and competed more than the course of the weekend,” stated LSU coach Jay Johnson. “We played wonderful baseball for the majority of the weekend. We didn’t let a ton of no cost bases from the mound, but we did currently, and Texas A&ampM is a very good sufficient group to money in when that occurs.

“I felt like we gave a very good work, but we definitely wanted to finish off the series with a win currently.”
