Firefighters from multiple departments were working Tuesday night to put out a fire at the Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe, which is located on the site of Nikola Tesla’s final laboratory in Shoreham. The fire was reported at 4:49 p.m. at the corner of Tesla and Robinson streets, according to Suffolk police.
Just an hour later, dozens of firefighters were still on site, trying to contain the blaze that had leapt out of the northeast portion of the main building on the site. Despite their efforts, flames continued to billow from below the famed peak of the building.
