Novak Djokovic has secured a record seventh ATP Finals title after defeating Jannik Sinner in a flawless performance in Turin. Despite initially losing to Sinner in the group stage, Djokovic’s coach, Goran Ivanišević, knew that he would ultimately come out on top.
Ivanišević revealed that after Djokovic’s loss to Sinner, they didn’t see him at all until Thursday, leaving uncertainty about whether he would even continue in the competition. However, Djokovic’s coach emphasized the inner struggles he faced despite being the best player in the world and always striving for more.
Following his victory over Sinner, Djokovic described this as one of the best seasons of his career. With 55 wins and only six losses, he won three of the four Grand Slam titles and only lost in the Wimbledon final. He also secured a total of seven titles. Djokovic expressed pride in his performance during the knockout phase, especially against his toughest competitors, Daniil Medvedev and himself.
Ivanisević agreed with Djokovic’s assessment and praised the 22-year-old Italian player, Sinner for his ability to potentially win Grand Slam titles in the following year, highlighting his fearlessness in competing against top players.
