For those who enjoy fishing, winter is an exciting time to catch the native and once rare burbot in the Kootenai River. By reporting tags on your catches, you can help Fish and Game better understand burbot catch rates, harvest rates, and survival rates. This information helps improve the fishery for future seasons.

Reporting tags is not only a way to contribute to the local ecosystem, but it also comes with a reward value of $100. So why not give it a try this winter? If you see a tag, please report the tag number and location of where you caught the fish to Fish and Game. You can do this by calling 1-866-258-0338, submitting your report online or as part of the Angler Science Program creel packet.
