Connecticut and Purdue shake up college basketball poll rankings

The latest developments in men’s basketball have led to some major changes in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll. In particular, two teams that have been at the top for a while, Connecticut and Purdue, continue to dominate with impressive performances.

As a result, they remain in the top two positions, with Connecticut holding on to its spot as the defending champions and Purdue taking second place. Both teams have received multiple No. 1 votes for their excellent play.

The next four spots are currently occupied by Houston, Marquette, North Carolina and Arizona, with just 12 points separating them. Houston has climbed back up to No. 3 after a few solid performances, while Marquette has made an impressive leap to No. 4 with their recent successes. North Carolina has slipped down to fifth after losing to Clemson, while Arizona moved up to No. 6 following some strong showings on the court.

Kansas dropped down from seventh position due to some poor performance and now they are ranked eighth. Duke and Tennessee are also in the top ten along with Iowa State who made a notable entrance into the poll at No. 24, marking their first ranking since their historic 1979 season. Saint Mary’s, Oklahoma, Virginia and Colorado State have regained positions in the rankings after dropping out earlier this week.

On the other hand, South Carolina is making a strong case for inclusion in the top ten after jumping nine places following a series of excellent results. On the other hand Wisconsin has fallen 12 places after losing four games in a row and Kentucky has dropped five spots following three consecutive home losses.

The bottom half of the rankings includes teams like Utah State
