Sports Gambling in North Carolina: A $659 Million Start in the First Three Weeks

In North Carolina, sports gambling has been legalized and residents have been actively participating in it. According to a report by the N.C. State Lottery Commission, $659,308,541 was wagered on sports events within the first three weeks of its launch. The report also detailed data from March 11 to March 31, which included both promotional and paid revenue from bets. From these wagers, North Carolinians were able to win $590,750,303.

The gross wagering revenue for March alone was $66,496,213. This amount is subject to an 18% tax as mandated by state law. This tax is applied to the total revenue generated by sports wagering activities.
