Super Bowl LVIII will be broadcast on Nickelodeon tonight, marking the first time that two networks have come together to present an alternate telecast of the game. The parent company of both CBS Sports and Nickelodeon is Paramount Global.
The game, between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, will feature a unique combination of animation and graphics with the traditional game-day telecast. Popular characters from the cartoon SpongeBob SquarePants, including Sandy Cheeks voiced by Carolyn Lawrence, will join the telecast live on Nickelodeon.
SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star will call the game alongside CBS Sports analyst Nate Burleson and play-by-play announcer Noah Eagle. Larry the Lobster will also provide live commentary.
Nickelodeon has been airing “NFL Slimetime” since 2021, a weekly show hosted by Burleson and child actor Dylan Gilmore. The duo will report live from Allegiant Stadium during the Super Bowl LVIII broadcast. If you’re watching the game with kids, this Nickelodeon broadcast might be just what you need to make it a fun and engaging experience for everyone involved.
