Ryan Ficken, who has been the Chargers’ special teams coordinator since 2022, has been retained by new coach Jim Harbaugh for the 2024 season. This news was reported by Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. Prior to his time with the Chargers, Ficken spent 15 seasons as an assistant coach in Minnesota, where he also served as the Vikings’ special teams coordinator in 2021.
During his time at Michigan, Harbaugh had his son Jay as his special teams coordinator. It is expected that Jay will move on to become the Seahawks’ special teams coordinator for the upcoming season.
