Kirsten Neuschäfer, a South African sailor, is the sole nominee for the Laureus World Sports Awards for her outstanding achievements in 2023. In April of that year, she made history by becoming the first woman to win a solo round-the-world race. She crossed the finish line at Les Sables d’Olonne in France on April 27 after spending over 235 days at sea.
Neuschäfer’s remarkable achievement not only earned her the 2023 Rolex World Sailor of the Year award but also has her nominated in the Laureus World Action Sportsperson of the Year category. The ceremony to honor these achievements will take place on April 22, 2024, in Madrid, Spain. To view the full list of nominees, click here.
