U.S. Senator Todd Young (R-Ind.) recently visited the Indiana University (IU) Technology Park to learn more about the school’s technological advancements and initiatives. During his visit, he toured the Cyberinfrastructure Building (CIB) and was introduced to IU’s I-Light program, a high-speed fiber optic network that connects research and education communities across the state. He also took a tour of IU’s Data Center and saw Big Red 200, a supercomputer that supports advanced research in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and data analytics.
After the tour, Senator Young met with Indiana University Associate Vice President for Research Technologies Matthew Link, who showed him physical hardware components that make up artificial intelligence compute at the Data Center. The visit ended with project updates from students and faculty in the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering.
“I was impressed by the innovative work being done at IU in AI and other emerging technologies,” said Senator Young. “It is clear that students and faculty at IU are making significant contributions to our state’s leadership in these areas.”
