Science Star: Bill Nye to Receive a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Bill Nye, the beloved “Science Guy,” is set to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Walk of Fame Selection Panel of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce recently announced their new class of honorees, and Nye will be receiving his star in Los Angeles in the TV category alongside eight other recipients.

Nye started his career in Seattle after graduating from Cornell University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. After working for Boeing as an engineer, he combined his love for science and comedy after winning a Steve Martin look-alike contest. He pursued a career as a comedy writer and performer on Seattle’s comedy show “Almost Live” before creating his Emmy award-winning show “Bill Nye the Science Guy.”

Aside from his television work, Nye has written eight children’s books, been featured on the New York Times Bestsellers List, serves as CEO of the Planetary Society, and is on the board of the Mount St. Helens Institute. With his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Nye will be joining a long list of icons honored on the famous sidewalk.

Peter Roth, Chairman of the Walk of Fame Selection Committee, expressed his excitement for this year’s honorees. Each one embodies excellence in their respective fields. Prince (Posthumous), David Beckham, Keith Urban, Jessica Chastain, Jane Fonda, and Fran Drescher were also selected for this year’s class in various categories such as motion pictures, recording, live theatre/live performance, radio, and sports entertainment.

An official date for Nye’s star ceremony has not been announced yet but fans around the world eagerly await it. With his remarkable career spanning over four decades and countless contributions to science education
