Rutgers football has put together one of the top recruiting classes in the nation for 2025, according to ESPN. The Scarlet Knights have secured a deep and talented group of commits, with 20 commitments in just the past month, almost averaging one verbal commitment per day. This has propelled them to a top-10 recruiting class, making them one of the strongest classes in the Big Ten.
The potential of this recruiting class is immense and could go down as one of the best in program history. With the recent commitment of four-star linebacker D.J. McClary over the weekend, Rutgers now boasts one of the top recruiting classes in ESPN’s 300 rankings for 2025. Currently, four Rutgers football commits for 2026 are ranked in ESPN’s 300, with three of those players in the top half of the class.
Among the standout commits are Michael Thomas III, Tariq Hayer, D.J. McClary, and Jaelyne Matthews, who are all ranked by ESPN’s 300 rankings. Notably, three of these players hail from New Jersey – a state known for its competitive recruiting landscape – which showcases head coach Greg Schiano’s success in targeting top local talent like Malachi Goodman and Kamar Archie.
With momentum on their side and good recruiting practices still underway, Rutgers football is well positioned for future success on both national and conference levels.
