The Round Rock Sports Center in Texas is currently undergoing expansion plans, with construction expected to be completed by early 2026. This development work includes the addition of two new courts, bringing the total number of courts at the facility to eight.
Initially opened in January 2014, the Round Rock Sports Center was designed to support sports recreation and events. The existing 82,800-square-foot facility already features six basketball courts that can double as 12 volleyball courts. With the expansion, the floorplan will offer flexibility for reconfiguration to accommodate a 16-court volleyball tournament or be separated for a 6-court basketball tournament and a cheer competition to be held simultaneously.
The Round Rock Sports Center has been a popular location for state-level and national events, hosting competitions such as the USA Deaf Basketball National Tournament, the Texas State Taekwondo Championships, and national cheer and dance competitions. In addition to these high-profile events, the facility also provides opportunities for youth basketball, volleyball, fitness camps, sports training, and recreation for residents. More information on events and programs can be found online.
During the construction process, some individual courts and restrooms may be temporarily offline while modifications are made. There may also be reduced or modified parking spaces available during this period of expansion. However, the facility will remain fully operational throughout the construction process, allowing people to access it as usual.
Funding for this project comes from the City of Round Rock’s 2023 bond package with a total cost of $274 million.
