Richard Tugman has been named as the interim president and CEO of Centra Health in Lynchburg, Virginia. Tugman has a wealth of experience with the organization, having previously served as its interim CEO in 2021 and currently serving as the CEO of Piedmont Community Health Plan since 2016. Thomas Nygaard, M.D., Chair of Centra’s Board of Directors, expressed gratitude to Amy Carrier for her contributions to the organization and wished her success in her future endeavors.
Tugman is well-suited to lead Centra during this transition period due to his deep understanding of the organization and its people. A transition committee has been appointed to advise him in his new role as interim president and CEO. The board is confident that Tugman will effectively lead Centra while a national search for a permanent CEO is conducted.
Centra Health is a subsidiary of Centra, and Tugman’s prior experience with the organization gives the board confidence that he will effectively lead Centra during this transition period. The board looks forward to working with Tugman as they search for a new, permanent CEO to lead the organization in the future.
