REWE Group, a prominent German retailer, has recently announced that it has extended the contract of its digital and technology director, Christoph Eltze, until 2029. Eltze has been part of the management board since July 2022 and has been instrumental in overseeing digitalization and technology initiatives within the company. Prior to this role, he was the divisional director for retail in Germany, where he managed various digital, customer, analytics, and IT functions.
Lionel Souque, CEO of REWE Group, praised Eltze for his contributions to driving forward the digital and technology division. According to Souque, Eltze’s expertise and passion have played a crucial role in creating the necessary conditions for innovation, improved efficiency, and group-wide synergies in this strategically important field. He also emphasized their effective cooperation as well as the focus on continuity within the executive board team.
Erich Stockhausen, chairman of REWE Group’s supervisory board, highlighted the rapid development that the company has undergone in recent years. He noted that numerous innovations – both large and small – have advanced brick-and-mortar business models and introduced new formats. Stockhausen particularly emphasized Eltze’s role as a key driver of this development. The extension of his contract is a testament to the successful executive board team’s cooperative thinking and commitment demonstrated over the past few years.
