Huawei Cloud has recently unveiled its ‘Cloud for Good’ project, a new initiative aimed at promoting sustainability and advancing education, healthcare, the environment, and inclusion through the use of cloud, artificial intelligence (AI), and other innovative technologies. This announcement was made during the Huawei Cloud Summit Spain 2024, where the company shared its strategy of utilizing technology to drive social progress and its vision for a smarter future under the work philosophy “Everything as a service”.
At the event, Aka Dai, Marketing Director of Huawei Cloud, introduced the ‘Cloud for Good’ project. The focus of this project is on leveraging cloud technology to propel social development and improve lives. Under this project, Huawei aims to provide cloud services that empower partners to succeed in their digital transformation journeys.
One example of Huawei’s strategic approach is the development of the Pangu weather model. This AI-based model uses cloud technology to forecast weather patterns and protect lives by predicting global typhoon paths and extreme weather events. In Madagascar, this model has proven effective in saving lives by helping local fishermen prepare for extreme weather conditions.
Another area where Huawei Cloud has been making a positive impact is in protecting wildlife. The company has developed cloud and AI technologies to monitor wildlife populations in Sant Llorenç del Munt i l’Obac Natural Park in Barcelona. By monitoring these populations, they have been able to identify endangered species and take steps to protect them.
Huawei Cloud’s efforts don’t stop there though; they have also introduced the Pangu medical model which serves as an intelligent assistant for doctors and patients during medical examinations, diagnosis, treatment
