In a recent announcement, Summer Health, a pediatric telehealth startup, has completed an $11.65 million Series A funding round led by 7wireVentures and Lux Capital. Pivotal Ventures, a fund by Melinda French Gates, also contributed to the raise, along with existing investors Sequoia Capital, Box Group, and Chelsea Clinton’s Metrodora Ventures. Key individuals from the investing firms will be joining Summer Health’s board of directors.
Founded in 2022, Summer Health offers a pediatric telehealth messaging service that allows parents to seek advice on various treatment questions related to breastfeeding, feeding issues, and minor health concerns like bumps and bruises. Based in New York, the company plans to use the funds to enhance its technological platform. The goal of Summer Health is to make access to pediatric care more convenient and efficient for parents, providing them with 24/7 access to care that can fit into their busy lives.
Ellen DaSilva, the founder and CEO of Summer Health, expressed her vision for the company stating “Summer Health was founded to radically simplify access to pediatric care. Our 24/7 platform gives parents access to care that fits their lives in minutes from anywhere.” The company aims to help parents make informed decisions about their children’s health, regardless of the time or location.
In addition to its recent funding round, Summer Health had previously raised $7.5 million in 2022 with support from Sequoia Capital, Lux Capital and other investors. The company faces competition from other players in the pediatric care industry such as Owlet which recently partnered with telehealth staffing company Wheel
