UK HealthCare, based at the University of Kentucky, is a comprehensive healthcare system that goes beyond its affiliated hospitals and clinics. With over 10,000 dedicated healthcare professionals on staff, UK HealthCare focuses on providing advanced subspecialty care for the most critically injured and ill patients from both the Commonwealth and beyond.
One of its many offerings is the state’s only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, which provides cutting-edge treatments and research for cancer patients. Another is the Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for newborns with life-threatening conditions. Additionally, UK HealthCare serves as the region’s sole Level 1 trauma center and has been ranked as Kentucky’s top hospital by U.S. News & World Report.
As an academic research institution, UK HealthCare is constantly pursuing new cures, treatments, protocols, and policies to revolutionize what is medically possible within our lifetimes. Its discoveries have the potential to greatly improve healthcare in Kentucky and beyond. Along with research, education is also a focus of UK HealthCare with its six health professions colleges training the next generation of doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and other health care professionals to uphold the highest standards of care. Ultimately, UK HealthCare aims to use advanced medicine to build a healthier Kentucky for current and future generations.
